Design and construction of HIAF network system

  • Background The network system functions not only as a utility, but also as an indispensable subsystem within all components of the accelerator. It supports the communication and data transmission of all devices during the operation of the accelerator. A high-performance and highly reliable network system will play an important role in the operation of the accelerator.
    Methods Based on the requirements of accelerator operation, combined with network technology such as CSS technology and stacking technology, three network systems are designed and built. Additionally, a set of remote operation and maintenance system are also built, encompassing functionalities such as remote access, security protection, and security audit functions.
    Results A control network featuring 40Gbps backbone and 100Gbps big data interface, a private network enabling 40Gbps data transmission for experimental terminals, and a public network supporting routine work operations have been designed and built. The remote operation and maintenance system greatly significantly enhances the work efficiency.
    Conclusion The network construction scheme proposed in the article meets the control, operation, and routine work requirement of the HIAF facility, and the secure and convenient remote maintenance solution significantly enhances maintenance efficiency. This solution will be applicable to similar large-scale scientific facilities as well as industrial fields with the same requirements.
