Construction and current status of control network for the High-Energy Photon Source (HEPS)

  • Purpose The High-Energy Photon Source (HEPS) is a major scientific infrastructure requiring a highly reliable control network for accelerator operations. This study addresses the critical research question: How can an optimized control network and traffic monitoring system ensure low-latency, high-integrity communication for HEPS operations? The primary objectives include minimizing packet loss, reducing latency, enhancing security, and enabling efficient real-time monitoring for hundreds of networked devices.
Methods The main method used is to partition VLANs, collect network device information using SNMP, manage network devices uniformly using eSight, and respond promptly to various alarm information issued by eSight. Collect and analyze traffic information from aggregation switches on the entire network, assist in determining network latency, and so on.
Results Real-time monitoring detects anomalies within seconds, while VLAN segmentation prevents broadcast storms. Security protocols block unauthorized access attempts, and automated logging ensures rapid troubleshooting.
Conclusion A well-structured control network with advanced traffic monitoring significantly enhances HEPS’s operational reliability. Key improvements include minimized latency, near-zero packet loss, robust security, and efficient debugging. Future work may explore SDN-based dynamic routing for further scalability.
