Measurement methods of the cross sections for neutron-induced fissions

  • Purpose Measurement methods and status of the cross sections for neutron-induced fissions are reviewed.
Methods Three kinds of detectors for fission detection, including the ionization chamber, the parallel plate avalanche counters and the time projection chamber are illustrated. Two kinds of standard cross sections for neutron flux determination are also laid out. International researches on the fission cross section measurement based on LANSCE, CERN n_TOF, GELINA and CSNS Back-n facilities as well as those performed by our group are presented and analyzed.
Results and Conclusion Comparing the fission cross section measurements using different methods, we conclude that the promising detector for high-precision fission cross section measurement is the TPC, and the ways for further reduction of the measurement uncertainty are prospected.
